Canadian smartphone maker, Blackberry has confirmed the release of its first Android based handset called Blackberry Priv. This smartphone is up for pre-order via UK-based retailer Carphone Warehouse carrying a price tag of GBP 579.99 (INR 58,000 approximately). Blackberry Priv has kept the rumor mills running for a very long time and there was a wide speculation on its specifications. This is Blackberry’s first Android based smartphone and runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. This handset comes with a 5.4 inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) dual curved display which puts it into direct competition with devices like Samsung Galaxy S6 and Lg G4. Moving to the hardware department, Blackberry Priv is powered by a Hexa core (1.8 GHz Dual core + 1.44 GHz Quad core) Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC (System on Chip) coupled with 3 GB RAM. Blackberry Priv comes with 32 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to an enormous 2 TB (Tera Bytes) with microSD card. Blackberry Priv boasts of an 18 MP rear camera with Schneider-Kreuznach lens capable of recording 4K UHD videos at 30fps (frames per second) along with a 5 MP front camera. This handset features a slide-out physical keyboard so that you can get a feel of both touch and type. Blackberry Priv is drawing juice from a 3410 mAh battery underneath which will keep it running for a long time on heavy usage. As of now there is no confirmation regarding the pricing and availability details of this smartphone in Indian market. Blackberry is looking to regain its market share with the launch of this handset.
